Power Station
Between October 2023 and September 2024, I was a 3D Artist for the ARIES Lab at Virginia Tech, where I collaborated with other ARIES artists to produce a detailed digital replica of a local power station in downtown Blacksburg, Virginia. The model was used as a VR training sim for the Virginia Tech Electric Service. I was responsible for capturing a laser scan of the site using a GeoSLAM handheld scanner, processing the point cloud, modeling a couple of assets, and compositing all of the models in Blender.

Project Context
Power Station is a VR system that is linked to a digital twin of an electric substation in Blacksburg, VA. It is used as a training simulation for the Virginia Tech Electrical Service, allowing trainees to interact with the digital station as if it were the real one. Trainees are able to make mistakes safely, learn about different switches and what they do, and are able to simulate real issues and learn how to deal with them.
